my nitrites are still high, maybe 10-15...on the package (seachem) it says that a well established tank should have 0, however, when cycling it is okay to have something around 20...Anyways, my ammonia is pretty much undetectable, but a change has occured...My nitrates are finally high, they were almost 0 last time, but today they looked pretty similiar to the nitrites...Maybe my cycle is on it's way! I can't wait to call and get my second batch of the package...And also my lighting came yesterday, 4 VHO-440 watts of power baby....the tank looks very nice, things look a lot happier, there are a lot more colors, I'm starting to get happy about this whole thing again!

I'll let you know more when I do...Thanks for all the tips

ps, until my cleaning crew comes, I continue to clean the algae off the glass because it was getting very thick in some places...this is okay right?

and it appears to be coming off the rocks...so is it possible that during mid cycle you have a big algae bloom, then during the almost post cycle, the algae reduces itself on the rocks, but still stays on the glass???Because this is what is happening

I'm guessing it's on the glass as it's getting the most light (however ambient) in that location... As far as cleaning the glass, knock your socks off... I'm not that familiar with sw algae but fw algae blooms as nitrates (along with those stinking diatoms (brown algae)) rise. My two cent theory would be that the algae bloomed because of the available nutrient levels, but due to lack of light it died off.

Enjoy the lights, and get some pics up! :)

Yup, cycling going right along, nitrites being converted to nitrates now. A bit weird because usually, it's nearly simultaneous.

Algae will get chowed upon by your cleanup critters. You may want to scrape the glass, as the cleanup critters don't climb glass that well, but wait until then.
