I got a 10 watt pc bulb and lamp, also a 7.5 watt heater and a better filter(a stingray) Still don't have enough rock in there for my taste, but I'll work that up eventually. She's getting a bit braver. When I first put her in the tank she was stuck to the top of the wall near the water line. that changed when I put the light on, she moved to the bottom and buryed her body in the sand with her crown sticking out. Then she moved to the underside of a rock where she gets light, but not a lot. She's seeming to want to stay there. For now anyway :) She also likes squid a bit, and sorta will eat cyclops granules. Other than that the only concern I've got is that she seems to have white rings around her tentacles at the base, though they still seem to function properly, and aren't emancipated at all, so I dunno if it was just something that ticked her off or what. She also likes to sleep balled up then open up in the morning. I just hope she decides to split eventually.

Are we talking about a majano or a bta? I am not sure if majano's split or not. But maybe they do. All of what you are saying though is normal for an anemone to do.

Good luck

Lisa

majano anemones definitly split... several hundred times:). we started with two in our office tank last year and now have about 85-100 of them. we thought they would stay contained to a rock island and hadn't noticed them moving across the sand. a few months ago though they crossed the sand bridge and are on the main rock pile. we are doing a tank upgrade soon and will be eliminating them from the rock when we make the move..

Hm, I had a pic on my guy's camera, but it didn't turn out at all. Sooo...

Yeah, they're generally considered pest anemones by people "in the know" and are reccomended to be nuked, though you can find people on ebay selling them as "tulip anemones, GREAT for NANOS!!!!!!1111!!!!" a lot. The one I've got was in someone's tank and he brought it to the LRS to be id'd. I thought it was pretty and set up a tank for it. Hey, I figure that even if it crashes, I can use it as something else. An extra heater, filter and light can't ever Hurt, even if they are tiny, right? ;)

i think they look cool too, i just wouldnt want them in my reef. a species tank is perfect for them though... soon it will be covered in majanos.
