Awesome, your never pictures are of both of them on only one side, could you get a few pics of them swimming with their other side facing us. I want to see if they still have that unclompleted last bar.

man... what are you feeding them?
everyday that i look at my rods onyx i get a little more sure that the color between 2nd and 3rd will never come... although sometimes i feel like it looks thicker than usual, it definitely hasnt grown more than a mm or two since a couple months ago... hes gotten darker all around and has grown his third stripe since feb when i got him but so far no luck on the black between 2nd and 3rd bars or on the top fin...

Matt...

You are not the first that has asked that question! I feed them 1 cube of San Francisco brand Marine Cuisine every day with a few drops of garlic. Every other day I include a little bit of Cyclo-peeze in the mixture. The most important part though is I feed them a little bit at the time. It can take me up to three hours to feed the entire mixture. I do this for two reasons, one it helps me lower the chance of over feeding my tank and two the fish eat longer and more when I do. I must say Lucy and Ricky are little pigs!

Beautiful! Maybe I will consider getting a pair of those when we start up our other 29g. Are they as hearty as common perculas?

Thanks for the compliment embryo! If it weren't for you and a couple of other Onyx lovers I would have never considered buying an Onyx and would not have known how to properly care for them! I really hate that you lost the Jigsaw and hope it finally gives you a reason to personally fly out and pick a couple of babies out yourself...

I ask him the same question about feeding! Mine had very thin black lines between 2 & 3 when I got him too in Feb just like yours R00on

I started feeding little bits over a 2 hour period and mine started developing black alot faster! I really have no clue if it was because of the feeding regim or just his time to start coloring up... but he is.

well as soon as i move him over to his new tank this week i will start doing a serious feeding regiment with frozen mysis and freeze dried CE... hopefully that will help...
