ya.. .I have to feed the sohal 4 times a day...

In the morning he gets flakes, 2 afternoon feedings of nori, then at night when the lights first go out, I feed a meaty feeding for the suncorals and others...

Nighttime feeding contains mysis, brine, cod scallop, & roe

Sohals tend to get a bad wrap IMO.. he is fine with smaller fish. He tolerates the blues, but only cause they have been in the tank with him for so long, I think.

The real key to keeping a sohal is to make sure food is available when he wants to eat. I put him on a diet once and he started to get really aggressive

When I filled the tank originally I used tap water. BIG MISTAKE! I really didnt have a choice though as I was moving into a new house and needed this tank set up ASAP to move the critters from the old house... Believe it or not, its actually getting better.

great tank. People forget that tangs are grazers in the wild and only want to feed them once a day. Then they wonder why they are territorial. You would be to starving!!! beautiful Shoal!!!

Here is his feeding schedule..
6am... Flake Food/ Pellets, sometimes part of a banana
10am ... Nori (1/2 sheet)
2pm.. Nori (1/2 sheet)
6pm... Meaty food, cod scallops, roe, whitefish, brineshimp, mysis.

He doesn't get them often.. maybe 1x a month... (when I am eating one for breakfast & I take a thumbnail size piece for him).... So far no adverse effect...

There was a thread on this about 2-3 years ago on here... so I decided to try it..

The sohal started off as a bargain... He was soo small about 2" or so... that I got him for about 75 bucks from the LFS. I was told there was a chance he wouldnt live... Now his is a monster that eats 4x a day... I am sure he would eat more if I fed him more...
