Updates etc...

So it has been a few days since I updated on overall tank conditions and the like...

Tank is doing well. I added a lawnmower blenny and he has been making me laugh almost nightly. He is very active and interacts well with the false perc and the pygmy angel.
I have a VERY healthy growth of what I assume is hair algae in my hang on filter box. I am ignoring it because it is not in my display and my Ammonia/Nitrites/Nitrates are all good being 0/0/<5 respectively.
My bubble algae has come back a bit and now both of my emerald crabs have croked. No biggie as the bubble algae is all in good spots to be able to remove it without popping them. One cluster though is threatening a Red Sea Xenia and a small group of Zoa babys. So I will focus on getting that out first off all.

I did a full glass cleaning last night and was amazed at how clear the tank was this morning. I have coralline popping up EVERYWHERE. I am so happy as I think this gives a pretty good indicator of things being OK in my tank.

I am kind of getting ideas together to do my sump/fuge setup but have a couple of questions...
The plan is to run from the overflow into 5 gallon "presump" that will basically be a remote DSB(I know, I have sand in my tank already but another patch could be helpful right?) this would then overflow into my main sump into a filter sock ahead of the skimmer...through the skimmer and then into the chamber that will house phosban media/carbon as needed...then on through the fuge which will house Chaeto or perhaps some mangroves...then overflow into the chamber with the return pump and back into the tank. Plan on using something along the lines of an Eheim 1260 for a return pump. With 2 MJ1200s in the tank now though, I may even have to dial that back a bit to kep from producing too much flow.
And speaking of MJs...I have set them up on a pair of timers to alternately turn off and on on opposite cycles to produce a constantly changing flow every 3ish hours throughout the day and night. Not the rocket science some folks use but everything seems to like the flow...

Anyone see any problems with this layout?
I will also be setting up a 10 gallon tank as a QT tank and/or frag tank.

Kind of overwhelmed at this point because of all of the things I am wanting to do. I am also looking into making up a big batch of homemade frozen food. Right now, the fish have a limited selection of foods and I want to change that so the fish, corals, and inverts are all fed when I feed the tank.

I ever mention that I love this hobby?
Usually my hobbies begin to trail off as I loose interest after a few eeks but this one has kept my attention for several months now with no signs of boredom.
I think the biggest thing for me right now is to do everything on the cheap and yet still end up with a tank that people see and say Wow, nice tank...

The first thing I would be concerned with is the overflow situation. Without actually seeing and completely understanding the flow pattern and heights involved I am not sure if you have the bases covered for failure.

1. Make sure if power goes out your sump or "pre" sump doesn't overflow.
2. More difficult to control is if your overflow (It seems you have a hang on the back) fails that your tanks doesn't overflow.

Either situation really sucks to have a room full of salt water on the floor.

Actually, the 5 gallon has a bulkhead at about 2 inches from the top. I bought Jerry's old sump and it looked plenty low enough while running to hold the runoff from a power outage on my tank.
I will sketchup a picture of my plan tonight. All in all, I think it will work well. and even f by some off chance, it does overflow the sump, I will be making the floor of my equipment closet into a catch basin(think stand up shower base with a drain leading into my sump pump pit...)
