updates on 6101?

The production will switch over in June and we expect to start shipping them in July.

Hi Roger,

Am I right in assuming (after reading the PDF on the Tunze website) that the 6101 will be a single product replacement for both the 6000 and 6100, since it runs from the lowest speed of the 6000 (2,500lph) to the top end of the 6100 (12,000lph)?

Cheers!

Yes, that is the idea. It will be priced more toward the 6100 at about $300 US. The power supply has a switch on it allowing you to choose the speed range. This is part of the changes we have been making to steamline production and get out from under the mountain of backorders. The added benefit for us is the new power supply is universal so we don't have to stock 230, 115 and 240V power supplies any more. We just have to stock the different plugs for different countries but those are smaller and lighter and easier to deal with than huge pallets of heavy transformers.

Will there be conversion kits for the existing 6000, 6100 ? Id really like to replace the driver and transformer with one of those PSUs and get rid of the mess of cables.

Unfortunately it is not possible as the new motor now incorporates the driver inside and the transformer has a different connector. Really you still have the same number of cables but they meet at a 1" square junction block instead of the driver. The parts for the old ones will continue to be avaialble for some time.

Roger this may look going backward but if the driver is outside of the pump, wouldn't it be possible to have a pump small enough yet still pump out a lot of flow? People want as small a footprint as possible in the tank and have as much flow as they can get. The popularity of the Nanostreams as well as other products such as VorTechs are proof.

Will Tunze make more effort on that front?

Hmm, I have to keep some secrets :)

Oh my, I hope I did not start something because you know how tenacious I can be:)

Does this mean that the Nanostreams will effectively replace the 6000 in the Tunze price range?

The 6055 doesn't get to the same flow level as the old 6000, will there by chance be a "larger" (in terms of flow) Nanostream coming to fill the gap?

Cheers!

The 6101 replaces both the 6000 and 6100, it is switchable between the two speeds. There is nothing planned to go between the 6101 and the 6055. The 6101 has the built in upgradability to a 6100 though and is therefore a greater value. The price is between the current 6000 and 6100 models.

Just an FYI, same as 6025 and 6045 can be modded easily to increase the flow to 1250 gph, the 6055 can have the same easy mods to increase the flow up to 1900 gph. That will fill the gap for you.
