Upgrade Advise

I'm about to upgrade from a 3-yr old 55 gal to a 120g.

I am hesitant to transfer water from my 55 to the 120 because my 55 have every kind of nuisance algae and flatworms.

Do I go ahead and just start from scratch?

Or algae and/or flatworms are just part of a reef and that I cannot eliminate them - just control them?

Also, how far apart (time-wise) do I stock the 120g with my fishes. Like one fish a week?

Lastly, I have a RBTA. When should I put him in the 120g?

?You can if you want to avoid the headache, but just have to deal with cycling another tank.

If your setting up a new reef tank, you can just get cooked rock or cook the rock you have right now, takes longer but its up to you...

If your starting a new tank, you basically you follow the same ways you take in regards to stocking new tanks.. unless you use the old live rock, sand and some original tank water..???

If your starting a new tank again, once your finished cycling it,

I just did a slight upgrade from a 58 to a 72. I set up the 72 with about 25 gallons from my old tank and the balance new water. I also took about 25% of my rock out of the old tank.

Let the new one run for about a week with pumps only then did a water change in the new tank with about 35 gallons from my old tank and moved everything over that same day.
