Upgrade to Electric MH Ballast

I just purchased a used Hamilton 250W MH x2, 110W VHO x2- both with magnetic ballast. Is there any good reason to upgrade the ballasts to electric? I hear electric are more efficient, use less electricity?

That site has a lot of information on lighting. From what I remember, I suspect upgrading the ballasts would be a money-loser, since you already have ballasts.

250 watts of power consumption for both types of ballast will not save on your electric, IMO I would only upgrade to electric ballasts when your present ones go out just to get better par from the bulbs (when you compare at the lighting sites the mag to elec ballasts)but the price of elect ballasts is usually about double
