Hi Everyone, My name is Greg, I rarely post on RC but I've been coming here for many years. I have been a reefer for 12 years and I've had many aquariums over the years.
I currently have a 150 gallon reef in my living room, my wife has started mentioning some new design ideas for this space, none of which involves a coral reef.....
"When one door closes, another one opens..."
I have negotiated a space in our home office, it is in an alcove, and is conveniently adjacent my current fish room.
I have decided to take a crack at a 205 Gallon cube, 48"x36"x27" and with the intention of "doing it right the first time"
The build is underway, I am now waist deep, I will start posting progress pics, anyone who can offer some advice, I'm happy to receive it!
Cheers,

I have removed 48 1/2" of wall and bulkhead over the tank, cut the flooring, and
Started the stand. The stand isn't complete yet, it still needs bracing and sound insulation.

I am reusing most of my current equipment, and adding a tunze wave box and 6205, And a 48" 4-lamp t-8ho fixture I have had In storage.

So I finished trimming in the stand, I've got the canopy built. I built a access panel that lifts out to access the front of the tank. I still haven't decided how to lock it in. It just needs some sanding and finished paint.

I have sealed the inside of the canopy walls with 11/2" foam board and silicone.
I will be closing in the ceiling with dense shield backed with plywood.

Here's the back side so far, I plan to plumb the return lines up the sides, and build an "overhead console" to mount an 8 port apex power block, it will power the lights, power heads, etc..

Here is one end if my drain, the tank comes with 4x 1" predrilled holes, I've decided to use all of them as outlets to guarantee there will be no chance of an overflow, I am making the last outlet in the series a vent to prevent siphoning and help keep it quiet. The picture is 1" PVC from the bulkheads connecting to a 2" common drain that will pick up the other 2 drains at the opposite end and will run to my first. I will post some more pics of the drain...

Here is the opposite end, the pipe is tight to the underside side of the stand and between the joists... It will turn a quick 90deg and into a 2" ball valve before dumping into the 1st sump.
