I have decided to 'upgrade' to a smaller tank. My SPS dominated in-wall 250 Euro braced glasscages tank (My 250g thread) is being replaced with a much smaller, nicer, rimless tank from AGE that will also be SPS dominated.

The new tank plan is:

Tank

36"x36"x24" Custom AGE with two viewable sides being Starfire and a 24"x6"x6" external overflow

Sump

Custom 48"x24"x17" by PimpedOutAquariums

Lighting

Display: 1x400w 20K Radium w/VHO actinics, T-5s and LEDs
Frag tank: Retro 4 bulb T5 rig on an IceCap ballast

Skimmer

Royal-Exclusiv Alpha 250 Cone.

Flow

In tank will be two VorTech MP40s
Return pump will be either a Mag or an Ehiem that I already have
Additional flow in the frag tank section of the sump will be done by a Tunze 6080

Tank: (all pictures by Tom @ AGE)

The above posts were copied from my local reef board, from here on out I'll try to keep this thread up to date.

Update time.

Life has been getting in the way of me setting up my new tank. It has been baby steps between work, kids, Stanley Cup playoffs and sleep.

The tank is now in place:

I added a few test corals to see how they do while my rock finishes cooking. The light is rigged to test temp through out the day, it will eventually be switched out for a Lumen Max Elete inside a suspended canopy along with all the oter lamps listed in post #1.

Gorgeous I hope I can see it one day, maybe I can get out there tagging along with gadgets someday.

Love how your overflow sticks into the closet, brilliant!

Very nice Rik, I cant wait to see this thing stocked! :D

That makes 2 of us!

Why are you online - you should out living the last 3 or 4 days of your life as a single man......

Thx guys. Lots still to do. The wood trim you see will be white and there will be black doors installed. I'm still working out hood designs with Mark (Chewbakah) who will be building it for me.

Ill get that stuff out tomorrow for thursday ;)

Great start to what I am sure will be a spectacular display!

I really like the external over and may have to employ one with my future upgrade. ;)

How was the communication with AGE? I have found them difficult to talk with. They are extremely knowledgeable, but lack in the communication department. Great looking setup though. Should be easy to take all the prize corals from a larger tank .

I always get a mental jolt looking at electrical near any overflow or sump.

Good luck with the new setup. My suggestion would be to change those recepticles to GFCI.

The layout of the overflow into the closet is AWESOME!!!

I can't wait to see this all come together. Great work so far, keep it up!

Was just wondering the thickness of glass, looks like 1/2 but dont want to make any assumptions.

The tank looks so sweat! its what I want to get started on!!
