Upgrading the tank.. Will the mandarin survive?

I'm probably going to be upgrading my tank in the near future from a 75g to a 120g. I'm planning on having the old tank running at the same time as the new one and then move the livestock over. My big concern is going to be the health and well being of my mandarin. It's been with me over almost 2 years at this point and I'm worried that the new tank won't be aged enough to support it. I can't leave my old tank up until the new tank ages enough to support the mandarin. Is there anything I should do to ensure his survival?

I had this same situation a while ago... I added a couple thousand pods and most of the LR from my old tank to the new tank, and the mandarin was just fine...

does it eat prepared at all?

you could always try supplementing the diet with Nutramar Ova and freshly hatched baby brine shrimp nauplii in a PaulB style feeder until the tank matures.

mine also loves live black worms. they're a freshwater creature, so they don't last long in saltwater, but i will squirt some at her and let her pick once every other day or so.
