Upgrading to a 90G

Although saddened by the death of my Sailfin Tang today, I do have some good news to report. Yesterday, I stumbled across someone selling their entire 90G setup out in Syracuse. I have been thinking about upgrading my 55G for while now so this seemed like a good opportunity.

So this weekend, I will be headed out to Syracuse to pick up my new 90G AGA with the Megaflow overflow, ~90lbs of additional live rock, a stand, and a custom acryllic sump (with Mag 7 pump). I think I am also getting a small assortment of whatever livestock he has left (few snails, clownfish, sea urchin, and some type of goby).

My current skimmer is not really adequate for 90G (AquaC Remora) so I will be upgrading shortly - probably to a Euro-Reef but I am still checking out the options. At some point, I will also upgrade the lighting and transfer my T5 Teklight to the 150G (to replace the dull normal outputs currently there).

Once I get everything sorted out, I will probably look to sell what is left of my 55G set-up (Linda -- just say no :) ).

dude, I passed on a free 250. Really...shocking as it sounds.

Today I found a 90gallon RR corner overflow AGA, wood stand, sump, skimmer, heater and other extras...no lighting...for $175 and he will deliver. If anyone whats his number pm me. It will probably go fast. Guy has to move.

ps...since I am getting more into treating wounded/sick/diseased fish I am looking for any hob filters/small tanks to use while treating them. If anybody has any used stuff (even things that need parts) I might be interested...pm me.

I think I like my family enough to stop with the big tanks...2 180's and a 120 for my big ones I think are enough (for now) :-)

Hey Krazy K,

I called Bob at 2ish...was going to meet him to look at it...changed my mind when I saw the look in Tom's eyes (even though he said "whatever you want to do"). Hey, I'm doing better even without a 12 step program...lol

Did you see the add at eddies? I was the first one to take his number from the bulletin board...freshly posted.

I'm happy someone got a good deal on the tank. Goodness knows I don't need another big tank.

Penelope,

Yes I seen the ad at eddies I was the 3rd to take the #

way to funny... Your rubbing off on me there missy !!

It's funny you say that -- if I had been a little quicker on the draw, I could have bought the ASM G3 skimmer from the same guy I'm getting the tank from. Someone beat me to it. I have heard good things about ASM too, so I probably will check them out. It would be nice to find one used.

Well, I drove out to Syracuse today to pick up the tank, sump, and live rock. I spent some time cleaning things up when I got home and now everything looks great. I was impressed with the live rock - 90 lbs with lots of tonga branch.

The sump is custom built and it looks like the guy did a great job on it - refugium will be on one end, skimmer on the other (I ordered an ASM G3), and the return in the middle. I will post some pictures tomorrow.

One question - I am not going to do the transfer to the 90G for another week or two and the overflow of the tank does stink. Wife is starting to complain abou it. Any thoughts on what I can do about this or do I just need to live with it until I get water back in tank?
