upgrading

ok so I have my new system all ready to go I just need to glue the plumbing and add water rock(I have 100lbs cured) and sand, my question is should I start up the tank and let it cycle or should I just switch everything over(from a 20) to the new 57 and run the sump thats on the 20 along with the new sump for 6 weeks to 2 months untill the new sump sandbed can handle the bioload.:hmm4:

more details would help, but cured rock should be able to handle the bio load without the sand. I would run the new one for 1-2 weeks, and check for an ammonia spike before adding things from the older tank.
