Urchin eating acans

Has any one else had their long spine urchin eating their acans? I have already lost one small colony that i had hoped was a one time thing, but I came home to him devouring my favorite colony!! Needless to say he is going to the LFS ASAP, but has any one else run into this?

I have a large one that is now banned to my overflow that had eaten the flesh of a couple sps. Always thought they were reef safe, every one says they are but, I now disagree

I had one that did laps around a colt until the coral died. I never saw it on the coral but the colt did look chewed on.

Banishing him to the overflow is a good idea. How did you guys go about picking yours up? Did you just grab one of the spines and lift him out?

Got under him with a net and just helped him into the overflow! He is doing great in there!
