Has anyone heard of sea urchins loosing its spikes. If so why?

hehehe, seriously, my thread is 3 below this one...consensus is it int good...and not sure wh it happens other then poor health...what kind of urchin?

I dont know what kind of urchin it is. when we where in north carolina at the beach i got it there and have not identified what kind it is.

oh i see...likely the stress of being wild caught is what is stressing your into dropping spines..
