Would there be any sea urchins suitable for the 34gal cadlight tank? i i do plan on keeping corals and such but im woundering if i should/should not concidering getting an urchin (if i do i would be suplying it with supliment feeding ect, im just worried if the tank may be to small or wether it would be to dangerous for it to be in there or....)... the two urchins that cought my eye is the tuxedo urchin and the long black spined urchin.... any ideaS? thanks!

I have a tuexedo in my red sea max, also 34, actually 29 with 5 in the back, but anyway just make sure everything you want glued down is glued down. They like to add things to themselves. I also drop in an urchin cookie every few, you can buy them or make them. recipe i use, cut in half though http://www.stanford.edu/group/Urchin/cookie.html also if your looking for a smaller urchin try this site, I didn't find out about it until after I got mine but they have some small urchins http://sealifeinc.net/catalog/index.php?cPath=34&osCsid=46a1dcf1555ee10e32210d5a80d679ef

Longspine urchins get waaaaay to big for that size tank. When they're happy, they grow really fast. My old LFS had one that went from a couple inches to nearly 8 inches in a matter of months.

Pincushion, tuxedo, pencil, and the small black spikey ones (rock boring) should all be fine in there. If there isnt enough algae for them to eat, every few weeks you can rubberband some nori to a rock and leave it in overnight. Definitely avoid the longspines though.

And you should know, urchins will topple unstable rocks and pick up frags/shells etc that arent glued down.

really? well ill definatly not be getting one (to bad i loved the looks fo them,... ill probably end up going for a tuxedo once the tank matures :) i love the looks and thank you!
