urchin problem

my purple urchin has small round white balls at the base of his spines they are not sand, when blown off they float around forever the urchin is a year old great shape this just came around the last few days there are 100s around all of his spines he is very active and healhy are these a form of parrasites ?

do urchins asexually reproduce? sounds like babies
