URchins and phosphate levels...

put a couple of what were advertised as tripneustes gratilla urchins in a tank that's got a phosphate problem and has been an algae farm...and they wouldn't eat, were just listless.

I put GFO on the tank and after a few days the little fellows are trucking about cleaning rock.

I'm wondering if, tough as they are in most regards, urchins don't have a shut-down reaction when phosphate is at testable levels.

Any info on this? I understand it does have an effect on urchin embryonic development. Does it send adult urchins into torpor?
