Urchins and Prazipro

Everyone,

I currently have a Blue Tuxedo and Halloween Collector Urchin in my 30g BB QT. They have been in there for only a few days. The tank only houses a few snails.

Due to the shipping from Divers Den, the tuxedo lost a lot of spines, and the collector lost some as well. Knowing that they were already stressed, I decided after my drip acclimation, to not expose them to air, and transfer them with a small amount of acclimation water.

I would like to run a 2 round prophylactic Prazipro treatment on the tank at some point, but I know that Prazipro is not advised with some sensitive invertebrates. Can the urchins handle the treatment once know they are doing well?

These are my first urchins, so any help would be appreciated.

No need to run prazi if they are to remain in the qt for a couple of weeks without any fish. Two to three weeks, depending on species, without vertebrates, will break the lifecycle.

I normally first run the TTM on almost all new additions. But with the stress from shipping and the loss of ALOT of spines, I figured getting the urchins in my stable QT would be the better choice.

I have read that urchins can carry some parasites, besides Crypto, and figured that Prazipro would be beneficial. I am assuming that leaving my QT fish less for an extended period of time would clear me of any parasites/diseases before I transfer them to my DT.
