Urchins

Are there any urchins that are reef safe? I'd love to have a couple when we're ready for them but so far, everything I've read says to "monitor with corals". ??

I have a blue tuxedo urchin which picks up coral frags and drops them in the hardest to reach spots in the tank. Other than that, they also eat coraline. I have not kept any other kinds of urchins. So, I can't speak from experience on those.

Can't speak from experience either. But I plan on purchasing a tuxedo to help with my hair algae problem. I have read that urchins are reef safe, but you have to monitor bc they are consider bulldozers (knocck your corals over). Also heard that eat coralline like jsc4354 said, but if you have a healthy system the coralline will outgrow what the urchin can eat

i think urchins would be great in a refugium linked to the system--can different urchins be combined in one tank?
