Urgent Anemone Help!!!

Hey guys anyways, I went to another LFS today, and this guy recommended me a power compact light the emits 130W. Here it is, the color was aiming at a blueish color, not sure if this would be suitable. Check it out.

It was very very bright, but I am having second thoughts on it mainly because it doesn't come with a light fixture.. >< I will either need to make one my own... send it to a custom made shop or something like that.. (: thanks

Ref that bulb, check your local Home Depot or whatever (Big Box type hardware store) is down there. They may carry it at a lower price. I'll bet that's not an aquarium only bulb. But what do I know, just a guess. Good luck.

How old is your bulb? the spectrum deteriorates over time although they still work. See if changing the bulb will help.

yeahh!! i've had it on for a bout like 6 months! and like is it possible because i'm seeing the tank turning yellowish?? ><

I think, if you put a clamp on metal halide you would cook the contents of your tank in an hour without a chiller. Even with a chiller, temperature would be a constant battle. The metal halides heat the room too and the chiller's exhaust is hot. All this increases the ambient temperature making the chiller work harder.

yeahhh, I thought so too. So my best bet would either be more power compacts or t5's. metal Halides will surely cook the tank.. ><

I'm really sorry to hear about your anemone. :( You obviously loved it and gave it your best shot. I went through the same thing last year with a BTA and felt incredibly guilty, although now that I have more experience (and better lighting and skimming) under my belt I'm thinking of trying again with another captive-raised BTA.

Depending on how much the light upgrade would cost, maybe you could get your clown another mate in the meantime, and save up to upgrade your tank. I have a 34G Solana with a 150W MH fixture and I love it. It was pricey to acquire, but it's nice not having to spend money on mods and upgrades (except for replacing the stock skimmer with a Sapphire nano-skimmer, which IMO was well worth the money).

try mysis shrimp, mashed up into a tiny little ball no bigger than the nem's mouth. feed twice daily for a couple of weeks (if the nem doesn't want it, it will spit it out, but it needs nourishment right now and this is the best way for it to get it), then every two days-- and Finsky's advice is very, very good, indeed.
You can get the 18-inch Current 2-bulb T5HO from Ocean Aquatics in Vancouver, Canada. They will ship. Google them. It is a great little unit and you will have 20,000K of light for the nem (and everyone else). I use it over my reef refugium, and on a tall discus breeder.
