Urgent Help - Firmware Update Failed

Hi all,

I am in a serious spot of bother.

I tried to do a firmware update via USB.

It looked like it was working fine however it just stopped through the flash and an error appeared on the PC.

"Error while transmitting firmware!: FLASHWRITE - No response. Please help us to improve this software and give us the complete and exact message as printed above!"

The profilux is now blank, there is power but I cannot do anything to it. I am a little freaked out at the moment.

I have the Profilux 3 EX and was attempting to update to firmware 5.06

Please help! :worried2:

Okay, just talking to myself as the majority of you are sleeping.

Downloaded the reflash software, it isn't working at all. I have tried the USB which seems to be getting the most success (Getting stuck at the point where it asks to press RESET).

Also using a RS232 to USB converter and it wont even acknowledge it on any of the 20 COMS ports you can select from the Reflash program.

My system is starting to look not so good..

StripestheEel,

The same thing happened to me not too long ago during an update via USB. You will need to have the GHL RS232 cable as well as a Serial/USB adapter with the proper drivers installed. Have the P3 connected to the PC using the RS232 cable and Serial/USB adapter.

Here's what I did:

1. Download 'Flasher FR' from GHL website.
http://support.aquariumcomputer.com/english/section.php?sid=7

2. Open flash.exe under the FR folder and run the program.

3. Under TargetMicrocontroller, select the following, MB91F467D.

4. Select open and choose the firmware hex file, 5.06

5. Click on 'Set Environment' and select the Com port where the USB is connected on your PC. The com number can be found under Device Manager.

6. Click on Full Operation and follow the instructions. When asked to reset the device, simply disconnect the P3 and reconnect it as quickly as you can.

It should work after you've followed the steps.

It did, thanks heaps!!

Now to re-programme everything and set up the vortech controller.

On that note, anyone know how to get that working? I have the manual but it's not making much sense.

Am I right in assuming I plug the vortech controller into a spare PAB port on the back of the controller?

If so I have done that and it isn't bringing up any additional units when I am in the System window on the CPU software.
