Urgent LTA Help!

I wanted a large anemone for may gold striped maroon pair. I got a long tentacle and they started hosting right away. It looked very happy for a week. Then the LTA suddenly deflated and stayed limp. Turns out I had a mystery nitrate spike. Still looking for the source.

I did a couple large water changes yesterday and the day before. It still isn't puffing up. There doesn't seem to be any sliming or tentacle loss. It moves when I squirt water at it so it's not dead. What can I do??? This a beautiful specimen and I'd hate to lose it.

Will moving it to a hospital tank be a good idea? I haven't checked to see if it's attached to the bottom.

I would keep up with the water changes maybe daily until your nitrates are down. How old is the tank? If it's a year or 2 old you could try vodka dosing if the water changes don't lower the nitrates back down. Is it attached to anything is its foot in the sand?

Tell us more about the tank. Picture of the anemone, and did you feed it? What and how much?

I've kept an LTA in high nitrates for years without issue, I do not claim to be an expert, but you may wish to look elsewhere for the problem. What kind of flow? What type of sand do you have and how deep is it?

Sudden high nitrate mean something died. High ammonia the nitrite then nitrate. That and other things that released by dead animal or too much food which is the same thing. Nitrate by it self should not be a problem
