Urget help with sick clownfish

Hello!

I have had a 167L aquarium with live stone only and a pair of clownfish for 2.5 years.


For the last half year they have been laying eggs and seemed just fine.

For about three weeks ago i introduced an xenia sp in the system, it also seems ok. But now the female has taken ill. Its laying low inside the pot, and is breathing very hard. The male seem ok, but he stays near her.

Should i take out the xenia? Can it have something to do with it?

There should be no interaction. If water was introduced from another system, however, it may have brought unexpected parasites along with it.

Okey, thats good, though i paniced and took the xenia out.

I thought since i had no problems in over two years and then i added this, two weeks later one of them takes ill..

Waiting right now for the osmosis so i can make a waterchange.

Wow i would really hate too see one of them go..

Update. Did a 20% wc, no change though.
Neither for better or for worse. That is a bit strange because it seemed like she got ill quickly but then development kinda stopped..

Have you checked Ammonnia, Ph and other levels?

Actually i do not have the test kits, and its weekend here right now.
So no way of getting them..


How do you think i should go on?

Should i keep doing 20% wc? (It takes about 8 hours for the osmosis)

Im kinda in the dark here. The male still seem fine though..

She is still fighting, and i want to do everything i can to save her. There is still no sign of any parasites likes spots at all, the other is still fine.

She have not gotten worse since the last 24 hours, but not better either.

Iam waiting for the osmosis so i can make a 50L change of water of the total 167 tub..

Also, i might add that this happend directly after she laid her last batch of eggs..


One more update:
I noticed that it actually were 26 celcius in it, and the heater was set for 22.
The heater is probably broken then, but i dont know if this small difference can make her this way? Also why only her?

In my opinion that error in specific gravity is irrelevant to this situation. However you should have an accurate way of measuring specific gravity as well as the parameters of your water. At least if you wish to be in this hobby in the long term.

One more update if there is still people following this.


I think my theory with the eggs is true.

She is still fighting, and now i can clearly see an egg 50% out from her. It have the exact color and shape as the eggs have when they are first laid. Its probably not just that one hanging out that is the problem, but one certainly hopes..

No, not yet.

She is still fighting and the egg that was stuck yesterday seem to have come out, but there is a new one now..

Wonder if there could be some parasite in the stumach that is doing this?

But it came directly after spawning, so it has something to do with that..

Now i can see some red like blood on the white lines at the rear fin.. What is that sign of?

Over reacted. There is no blood, reflection from the pot.

I had to put her down today. All the other days she did look all the same, but today, she lost all her color and could not stand up to the flow.

Im really bummed out. The worst thing is that i dont know what it were.
Also i dont know if the male may still catch it. He is still caring for the eggs though..

Awww. That's so sad. I'm sorry for your loss.

My female Black Onyx Snowflake died suddenly after about 6 months for no reason. One minute she was fine, the next minute she was breathing heavily laying on the sand. She died a few hours later. All the other fish in the tank were fine. I've never been able to find out why she died.
