Use of different Phytoplankton

Hi everybody,

I am not sure I posted this in the right category but I have a question about the use of phytoplankton.

I am culturing Nanochloropsus for a long time now, recently my friend gave me some new starterdisk from Florida.

Tetraselmis, Dunaliella and Isocrysis.

I know the use of Nanochloropsus but the rest I have no idea for wat I can use them. I know there are some products on the market that have been mixed with all these kinds of phytoplankton, does anybody know specificly the use of these 3 phytoplanktons?

Thanks

Different strains of phytoplankton grow to different sizes. Depending on your consumers, they may well need diversity in size.

Isocrysis sp. is a favorite of mine. It is a motile algae (it has a flagella). It is a great food for bivalves, and gets about 5µm long. Tetraselmis is high in lipids and amino acids. It is also motile, grows about 10µm long.
Everything that is currently eating nano should also eat these three algaes. With the exception of the most picky sponges.
Just be careful not to cross contaminate your cultures or you will end up with 1 species of algae.
