Used tank dumb question

I got another tank recently. The plan is to move my current setup to it.

I filled it with water in my garage to check for leaks. How long should I leave it set up? If it's not leaking in a day or two it's good right.

After having a tank fail on me, well actually multiple tanks, I would leave it
Up for a full week. Tape paper towels around all edges( it will show very tiny leaks quickly)

Not a dumb question, I usually go for a couple of days but go longer if it makes you more comfortable. Peace of mind is priceless.

Martini has a great idea with the paper towels.

Instead of taping paper towels I just dab toilet paper around corners and seams. It will show any leaks as well. I have to admit I like the paper towel method better though!

Thanks. For the tips.

I filled it Wednesday but didn't tighten the bulkheads on the bean animal so it leaked a lot from there. Lowered the water below the overflow holding level as of now. But I'll try the towels Sunday. Give it some more time.

Now I'm at a lose. Just looked at it again. The water level never went down. My only thought is condensation. Its in the garage and we've been having real cold nights and warm days. Plus last week I bought a new car that's leaking gas so I've been leaving a garage door cracked.

Mark the water level w/ a marker and saran wrap the top of tank to eliminate evaporation as a possibility.
Not a dumb question at all
