used water container (leather cleaner)

i am looking to purchase a big water container (250-275) for storing NSW... i found someone on craigslist that has one for $150 but says that it was used to ship leather cleaner from italy and was washed out 3 years ago and has been sitting on the shelf since. Do you guys think I should take a chance on this, or would it not be worth it, and just look into getting a brand new one for a little less than double that price. The price on this used one seems really good, but i would have no problem passing on it if it is just going to cause me problems in the long run.

the 55g drum i use was orginally used to store photographic developer or fixer (it's been a long time and i forget which). i scrubbed the crap out of it and it has been is service now for over 20 years. obviously, the safest thing to do would be to buy new, but if you scrub it enough (i used abrasive kitchen cleaner several times, then baking soda, and LOTS of water) and it does not smell bad, it may be worth a try.
