Ushio VS Radium 20K - 400W

I never owned either, but since they are having some great sales on them for Black Friday, I thought I would take the plunge now, but I don't have time to research them out. I know they are both great bulbs, but I thought I would ask here to see what you guys think.

Always been a fan of the radiums especially in 400 watt. Tried the 250 watt Ushios and was not impressed in the slightest.

I thought ushio's had too much purple.

Agree with 82nd engineer. I didn't like the ushios at all

Never had a radium but we had a ushio 20k and really liked it. But we got the ushio because of their reputation as having a very blue look, as that is what we like.

Just make sure you get single ended bulbs. Your options for double ended 400 w are hamilton and catalogue. Made that mistake with my 300g

I've been looking, 'cuz I really thought that you were wrong, but I hate to admit, I can't find anything in 400 watt DE in the places I look for bulbs.

I know! I'm so ticked at myself that I over looked that in my build. My center bulb is a single ended reflector and I love it. Hate the two end ones that are double ended. I've had 250w mh for 7 years and the choices were endless. I just assumed it was that way for 400w. Oh well!!

I have this bulb in my center reflector in my 300g. LOVE it! The color is awesome. The corals also love it. I think you're going to be very happy!

Glad to hear that. Most people seem happy with the Radium 20K Bulbs. Now I just need to decide the supplimental lighting. Not sure if I am going to use LED's or T5's

I have 4 54w T-5's for my actinics. Love the 2 colors together.
