using BRS reactoer for QT filter?

so I have a idea for a QT filter...
get an bulk reef supply carbon reactor and use LR rubble or ceramic media.
it abou the same price as a HOB filter + use can use it for more that one app.
basically it like a canister filter.

I may try that next time! I have been using an old whisper 40 HOB power filter but i have an extra BRS reator I am not using at the moment and always have some rubble in the sump....easy to set-up and adjust. Those reactors are solid! Would you use the white filter ads too or leave those out? Or maybe a small prefilter on the intake of the maxijet would work to keep the uneaten food out and not to have to take the reactor apart as often? I use a slit aquaclear sponge on the intake of the whisper to prefilter the food out. Just a thought. Great idea!

thanks I thought it would be a great idea too. the only thing I can think of is if you use meds in your QT tank....then you might not to want to put the LR back in to the tank.

anther idea is to use the "bio-bail" stuff it's cheap and you can toss it after use. and put more in the sump for next time.

anyone see why this is a bad idea?
