Using Cupramine in QT on a Juvenile Angel

I have had a Juvenile 2" Crysurus Angelfish that I received from Live Aquaria just over 2 weeks ago. He is going through his second week of Prazirpro. He is eating spirulina enriched brine and PE atm, and was eating flake food until I started the second treatment of Prazipro.

My tank is currently fallow and I would like to keep ich out of the tank. I am thinking of treating Cupramine on the Angel, but am weary to do so with the sensitivity of Angels to copper and it being a Juvenile.

Does anyone have experience doing this? If I do I plan on slowly raising the copper until I reach .35 over a week or so. Is this safe, or should I try a different approach?

This is the best approach when using copper on angels. Monitor closely for signs of intolerance; they will usually stop eating first before anything fatal happens.

Any alternative (and chemical-less) method would be to use TT. Look here.

Just a heads up, every Chrysurus angle less than 5 inches I've ran through cupramine developed HLLE. Over 5 inches they handle it well, I'd suggest TT being only one small fish.

go very slow with the cupramine...many angels do not tolerate it well...while this is def true of centropyge angels I also ramp up the dosage very slowly with any angel especially babies...

I used it on my juv emperor and she stopped eating entirely after eatin like a pig and developed Lympho. I took her out of the copper and she slowly started eating again and and after a month the Lympho went away. Be careful using it and go slow!! Make sure you have a seachem copper test kit, other copper test kits won't read cupramine

I have both a Seachem and a Salifert test kit. I purchased the Salifert after using the Seachem and getting frustrated. Dipping a piece of plastic into a small container of powder then knocking off the powder until only a light dusting remained is way more complex than adding 5 drops to your water and imo easier to mess up.
