Using DT's phytoplankton dead?

This is probably a dumb question, but can DT's live phytoplankton be used dead? or would i just be polluting my tank. Any info is greatly appreciated.

My guess is that would be a bad idea. DT's doesn't use any preservatives to keep the stuff from decaying (obviously because it's alive) such as zooplex does. I think you would pollute your tank badly because it would already be rotting badly before it hit the water.
