Using Kalkwasser

Hey every one,
I'm just about ready to add water to my reef tank and I'm thinking of just adding kalkwasser in my auto top off for the first 6 month to keep my alkalinity and calcium level until my system stabilizes. I do have a calcium reactor but I'm thinking of holding off on it until Im ready for sps, during this time I will only be adding a few zoos and acans. The aquarium is 250 gallons and I will be using red sea coral pro salt.Is this the right way to go about starting out?

Sounds like a good plan, id start at about 1/2 teaspoon/gallon

You can try Kalk. It might not be able to keep up with the demands of coralline, if you want coralline growth. If you have a peristaltic pump or something with a similar flow rate, that tends to work best, IMO. This article might help:
