Just wanted to see how many of you use this technique when you introduce a new fish to the DT.

I use two 12x12 mirrors that I purchased from a craft store, and it always works well for me. Especially with tangs..

I voted 50/50..

I know of somebody who took it a step further and put all sorts of stuff in his tank to distract the fish..He tied forks and spoons and hung them from the braces and even put 2 liter soda bottles in there to float around

Ha what a great idea, I bet it worked too..

I need to try that because my archillis literally almost kill my sohal over the weekend when I put him in my display...now I know what they meant when a powder blue or archillis targets a fish....

Has worked well for for me whenever I have introduced new tangs into my 180. Prior to learning about this trick my Yellow Tang killed a few new fish

I actually take a mirror and hang it inside the tank...it twists around and the fish are wayyy to confused to figure out and worry about the new member. My dwarf lion actually attacks the image of himself and follows the mirror around and around as it rotates! LOL

I voted 'never heard of it' but the above technique sounds very promising to me!

Never heard of it until today.
Got a beautiful Desjardini Tang that nearly killed my docile foxface rabbitfish. Traded the foxface to the LFS for a similar sized Yellow Tang. Hung a mirror outside the tank and the Desjardini is to busy fighting himself to bother the Yellow.
There have been a few tail duels, but so far so good.
