Using vortech mp10's instead of closed loop under tank

Getting a custom tank built and the mrc guy was telling me about people using vortechs mounted to the bottom of the tank instead of closed loop system for more flow. Any input on this? Advantages and disadvantages. New tank will be 50*30*24.

I can spare the 2 I currently have. And I can run 2 mp40's for the rest. System will be sps dominate

Guess the only disadvantage is the flow will only be upwards

I doubt many of us have room to mount them to the bottom glass. I don't see a problem with this if you can make it work but it is certainly not the norm.

If you are running a bare bottom tank I don't see a problem with mounting them low on the sides or on the bottom glass. If you have a sand bed this method will blow sand all over the tank.
