uv sterilizer help

i just put a new bulb in my uv,How do i tell if it is working the little clear piece at the bottom is showing no light,Does it have to be dark to see light out of that piece....Thanks,Marcus

What brand is it? Did you see the light before ?

its an aqua and no i bought it used,its a 25 watt

Sorry, I'm not familiar with that brand. But in case you dont already know, dont look directly at the bulb when its on. I can see the blue light on mine. Did you get instructions with it ?

i have an emperor aquatics but i can see the purple/blue light coming out of the end of mine
