Hey guys,
I'm thinking about getting a UV Sterlizer. Polling you guys about what kind and how many watts for my 90gal.
Thanks Paul

ive got an 80 watt gamma uv on my 180 on a ninety i would probably go with a 40 watt to be on the safe side

make sure it has a quartz sleeve. if you want the best I have heard emporer aquatics is right up there but the price is also. if you don't have a chiller the more watts is the more heat that will be transfered into the aquarium. if you run high in temp uv will push it over the edge.

The guy at Life Oceanic has a 25W Gamma for $140. I also see the Turbo Twist 36W's for like $155 and found an emporer Aquatics 50W used for $130(needs a bulb, another $50)
They all have quartz sleeves.....
Ted you have any input?

do any of them have an electronic ballast? efficiency might be of concern?
george if you use the zeovit products you want to make sure you turn of uv or ozone for a few hours everytime you use the bacteria or zeobak or anyone adding prodibio also wants to do the same thing otherwise you kill the good cultures you are adding.

I run an 80 watt Gamma. 24/7 I like the Gamma, they are well built, and the price is better than most. Ted

Well...I ordered a 25W Gamma from Marine Depot today. Now I have to figure how and where I'm going to fit this thing!

With those Gamma UV units, is it just plug 'n' play? They don't need a feed pump? Also, how long will a lamp last typically?

Well, I received my 25W Gamma today from Marine Depot. Fast shipping, they shipped the same day I ordered.

Now I have a question, do you think my Gen X 4100 return pump will be ok when I plumb the UV inline with the return?

Paul

P.S. I think I'm going to order a ASM G3 tonight - any thoughts on that?

UV installed and running for a couple of days.........WOW the water looks soooooooo clear!

Just got the skimmer! Now I need a bigger sump...(sorry honey)...
