So my coralife turbo twist has stopped work due to the ballast and have read it happens a lot anybody have any ideas of other types that are close in price and will be just as good thanks

You can buy another ballast for it. That said they are not very good units to begin with.

Lifeguard makes a quality unit that is affordable and the design is proven and unchanged in a decade.
If you can find a used Current USA Gamma on eBay, they are also nice units. I've had mine for almost 17 years and it has worked flawlessly. Plus both the lifeguard and current utilize standard designs that translate between all the other systems so replacement parts like Quartz sleeves and bulbs are readily available.
Here is how I have my gamma set up on the return pump.
