vacation for a month

bullitr

broke but happy
i am in the process of moving 10 miles away in a month and i will move my tank first but 2 weeks after of moving my tank i will be on vacation for a month .i will have a aquarium guy check the tank once a week .i have mixed reef tank with a lot of fish with water top off ,cal reactor ,chiller and metal halide with a fan . i have minimal sps now with ajust 5 3" to 5" clams most soft coral.have the best automatic feeder out there that reliable and don't cost and fortune ?and will my tank be ok?

If you don't have a way to monitor it remotely I would have someone check on it once a day, especially as your moving it right before leaving. Things randomly go wrong years down the road so 2 weeks is a short buffer to fine tune the system again. Things always go wrong where your gone.

I left for 2 weeks after my 120 was up and running for about 8 months and for some reason the 55g trash can I used for top off decided to drain on my floor 2 days after I left. If it weren't for a buddy who was checking on the tank it would have been screwed for sure.

I would get someone who understands the system and knows what to do if something basic goes wrong to check on the tank every day. A lot can go wrong in 2 weeks and once a week will probably not be enough. Better safe then sorry.

what should i do?since i don't have someone who can check the system once a day?should i buy a remote to monitor everything?

There are 3 of us who take care of each others tanks when it's vacation time. Start by finding a quality reefer and going over your system thoroughly and write out your feeding and dosing routine.

Are you using a controller with remote monitoring of system parameters? In not and you can't find a fellow reefer I would consider at lease a web cam. You could have a non-reefer stop in daily to take a look at things. With the webcam, you can not only remote monitor, you can walk them through things if an emergency pops up.
