Vampire BTA?

My BTA hates the light!!

Ever since I got the BTA it will expel waste and shrivel up for most of the day when the lights first turn on. During the night it bubbles up and my large female maroon will sleep in it. Happens most every day. I do think my clown might be a little too big for it. She is about 4+ inches. I have a QT tank set up to move the BTA to but at night it looks good and is eating, so I just haven't moved it.

oh good, whew, I was thinking..I didn't know btas sucked blood.

Anyways, can we see a picture of your bta?
Some times btas deflate daily, depends on how often you feed them.
When did you get this bta?

+1 for picture
My guess is the maroon, they have been known to kill a host that is too small, they're awefully rough.

What type of lighting do you have? What type of lighting did the anemone come from? The shriveling in the light sounds like it's not acclimated to your lighting yet.

Finally got it in the tank. It had it's foot well stuck in a crevice on the rock. I will try to get a picture later. I don't want to stress it anymore today. I only have 130w PC lighting, so it shouldn't be too much. My past anemone was fine and split three time over 2+ yrs. and grew up to 12in across. I had a tank crash and lost them. I miss them. Here is a pic of them.

I wouldn't be surprised if it had to do with the maroons bothering it. I would separate them and see how it does.

Mine did the same thing - shriveled during the day, inflate at night. My maroon beat it to death eventually and it died.

Maroons are really hard on 'nems, so I traded mine in to let my 'nems recover before I add in another breed of clown

Oops. It is POed now. Forgot to turn the AC on today before I left since it was going to get warmer during the day and with the lights on the 10g QT tank the water got up to 82-83 when I got home. It is starting to bubble up some now that the water is slowing cooling down.
Moral: Try to wait on setting something up in the QT till the weekend you can watch it.
