Venting a MH light to outside?

I was curious of anyone here has installed a vent
pipe to exhaust the heat from a MH light to outside.

It seems a dryer-vent and some rigid vent tubing would work.

Has anyone done it?

Pics?

Thank you

Interesting idea. I'd probably use a small hydrophonics fan though... pretty damn quiet and very efficient. I use a large one for my fume hood in my basement brewery :)

Yes I have. I took a stand up AC and removed the tube and window bracket. Then mounted it to my canopy and added a fan to assist. Worked great.

Yeah most of the MH/HPS fixtures you would find at a Hydro store have the attachments or they are addon. Basically drier hose attached to hood powered by a squirrel cage fan. I've used several including on my 1000w HPS fixture. Before I got rid of my MH/T5 on my current tank I had considered doing something similar but there were bigger issues and I just eventually caved and went to LED.

I have my lighting soffit vented outside. The space above my tank is pretty big at 40" x 90" x 40" tall. I use a 10" rotron high CFM fan that pulls the heat and humidity out of the enclosed soffit and ducts it directly outside via a 10" duct. I set this up when I was running my halides and it did a great job of eliminating any heat from the halides and VHO bulbs I used to run. Now I run LED's but still keep the fan running 24/7 to keep fresh air flowing across the top of the tank and and help remove any humidity from there.

When I ran metal halides (4 x 400) under a hood I had the hood connected to a ducted extractor fan that vented outside. The hood also had a couple of fans at the other end that forced in fresh air.
