Vermetid Snails killing my corals Help please!!

google micro scrubbing bubbles reef and you will find plenty of articles on it. elegant corals started the method years ago. there is threads on here as well. tiny bubbles injected in the tank for several hours. I used a $10 air pump and a $5 wood air stone. helps pick up detritus from even the smallest of places so your skimmer can remove it. in addition it irritates some corals causing them to release mucus which in theory helps remove toxins from the corals. what I like about the scrubbing is it keeps the tank very clean.

Question: If you pop off there tube with them in it still will they die or just come out and make another? I have been trying to use my fragging clippers to go into the tank and crunch the tubes. A few of the worms though just dart down into the very bottom of the tube and I kinda just popped it off the rock and it fell down into the rocks, was wondering though if it killed it or not????

I have done my best to glue over tubes as I find them but find it a lot faster to just use the clippers and try to crush them (in hopes I am smashing them and killing them).

unfortunately they don't die, they just recoil to the far end of the tube.

Hey Vinny
Probably there is....
But haven't found it yet,
I have been searching the net long and wide
With not success ... I don't want to tear the tank down
Corals are growing all over the rocks, that means I have To sacrifice many corals

I have two mucus strings in my month and a half old mixed reef. I don't want these things to multiply and it sounds like they are very difficult to get rid of. Has anyone ever tried sticking a sewing needle down the tube to kill the snail?? My tubes are very small and my Spongode and encrusting Monticello's have grown around the tubes....

even if wrasse or anything eats the snails, the thousands upon thousands of ugly looking tubes are still left behind. Soaking in vinegar does not dissolve the tubes. I wonder if stronger acid will.

I bought a used tank with a ridiculous infestation. I pressure washed all of the rocks to get the calcium tubes off, but I still need to remove them from the overflow. The tanks has been sitting empty for about a month and I've cleaned and bleached the rock from the old tank. Do I need to be concerned about any of them still being alive?

My tank had thousands of vermetid , they are everywhere, rock, coral, overflow, pump, skimmer, pipe. I'm going to rebuild my tank, my question is if I run the whole system two weeks freshwater , should I kill all the snail ?

Personally I don't know, but it is a good question...
You should grab a few of those suckers
And give em a fresh water bath....
And monitor what happens

Having a few in my tank if they get big I will use a knife to scrape them off but I don't think they will do serious damage to the corals.
