Vermetid Snails on my hammer coral

I crush them with pliers. As long you crush the whole thing to bits and mangle the inner flesh, it's done.

I use super glue gel to seal the opening shut. It's worked so far.

I have a friend that uses bumblebee snails to eradicate them. But, I've heard from some people this method is hit or miss.

I tried bumblebee snails and can't say definitively if they made a difference or not. I could see them on or around the vermetid but can't verify if they actually ate them or not. However, i recently got a medium sized electric blue hermit and it for sure ate vermetid. It literally crushes the base of the shell to get to the snails. Keep in mind i got this randomly from a tank shutdown and didn't know it would eat vermetids but makes sense since hermits eat snails. I guess you just need larger ones with stronger claws.

That's good to know!

Thanks for all the responses! I have 2 corals that I purchased from the same place that had Vermetid snails on them already. I just didn't know what they were or what they looked like. They have been in my tank for 3-4 months. I went to town with the pliers and I already have a couple of bumblebee snails in the tank. Maybe that's why I don't see any of the Vermetid snails on the rock or other corals. Going to have to keep an eye on this problem and be proactive. Again, thanks for all the responses!

So I bought 12 bumblebee snails a couple of days ago and I already witnessed a couple of them finding and eating vermetid snails. And since I have at least 15 of them in the tank I can see a handful of them at any time so that's a plus I like the way they look.
