I have some vermetids in my tank the problem is there using my acros as a host would removing the corals and giving them a dip in coral rx kill them?

Tks Robbie

Probably not, since I have had one vermitid snail on a monti that has been dipped several times yet still persists.

You can superglue (or just plug the hole some other way) the entrance into the shell to cut off their access to food/oxygen.

In my experience, vermetids seem to thrive under poor water conditions and over feeding. Superglue works but you might want to take a look at the rest of your system.

These guys can live even if you dry the rock for weeks! I have one beneath one SPS that is entrusting. Amazingly, the sps cannot encrusted on top of the calcareous tube. I injected it with praziquantel and it was killed in 1 shot.

+1000 i ran into this problem when i was feeding alot and didnt have the ULNS that i have now. now with my nutrients as low as they are, the things dont reproduce and the ones i do have dont grow anymore

Iam running zeo on this tank the nearly 4 months phos is 0.015 nitrate is 2ppm water quality is good so iam going to try the super glue Tks Robbie

I use tweezers and crush the thick base that the tube comes out of, can see vermie guts spewing out when I do it. I'm sure at least a couple of the scavengers in my tank enjoy the easy meal.

Just curious, what test kit are you using that can give you readings of 0.005 ppm? Thanks

Oh okay thanks for the info. BTW I know your phos is 0.015, I was asking what test kit can give 5 thousanths (or 0.005) ppm of a measurement.

I either use a dab of superglue or my new method is just to use coral cutters. You have to sneak in and get them before they pull back in the tube though. I've only had one acro able to close over a vermetid. The others just end up with a long horn looking thing as the vermitid and acro battle with each other. Coral cutters work great if you catch em quick though.

I have been dealing with the irritating things as well, and the 2 part works well for the ones that are in the open but some are deep into corals or in between rocks. Has anybody noticed any affect on them with interceptor? I treated for red bugs a while back and don't seem to remember any signs of vermetid snails after that, but slowly they have gotten out of control. It seems if they are an invert the treatment would kill them, and could even be shot directly into the web. Maybe grind it up and put it in water but don't dilute it fully. I have been wanting to try it but I already had to rebuild my CUC once, and not wanting to do it again.
