Vertex Illumina Club

Hi:wavehand:

I have just ordered a illumina and that growth is very reassuring!

Would you mind sharing the time frame of the growth?

Thanks

James

Am I the only Illumina user frustrated by the lack of documentation for the Vertex products? I can't understand why the user manuals are not readily available on the Vertex website! I've been anxiously awaiting the latest firmware that adds "master-slave" capability for synchronized operation of multiple light fixtures. In March Vertex announced that firmware 1851 incorporates that feature. I've downloaded and installed it, along with the latest version of Light Studio, but nowhere can I find information on how to synchronize the fixtures! One would think that Vertex would provide links to the latest documentation through their website - go figure! Can anyone help?

I recently upgraded the firmware on my Illumina 200 to the latest version. Since the upgrade I lose connection to my V-Link when using my laptop. Anyone else experience any problems? Also I am about to change out the Illumina with my old T5 setup. I was told everything will need time to adjust and to not turn everything up. What settings are recommended? Thanks

they will be released at Interzoo this month so I would expect them available within the month at your local vertex dealer
Cheers

what sets vertex apart from other manufacturers? this is not a bash, i'm curious. i've seen the aqua illumination and it does some of the same stuff. i have a 125 thats 72" long. i love the design and the ability to have a single unit but before i spend an additional $1000 i want to know what makes it worth the added cost. be gentle, it's been 10 years since my last aquarium and led's were not in the picture as well as many other pieces of equipment.

what I like about the illumina that sets it apart from the others is you can add colored LED pads...even though slower than a snail to be released...to the light without reducing the number of existing LEDs in the unit. so your adding more light to it not swapping out so the light is bright. Also like that its a single unit not pods. No optics means good spread too.

Ive just bought some violet, cyan and pink LEDs to make a DIY strip to go behind my illumina to test additional colors in the mix - too long to wait for other colors to come out i want to play now :) fitting them up on the weekend hopefully

also, using this schedule now so i get a nice pop look when im home after work.

Found some pics of Interzoo 2012 Vertex exhibit with the UV leds! Finally... also found a pic of what looks to be the final version of the Cerebra:

http://www.marinemad.com/my_live_feed.php?live

That was awesome! Thanks for the link, I met one of the lead programmers for vertex at the last MACNA and we have been emailing back and forth since then. Here is the last correspondence on the cerebra,

"unfort company that produced current PCBs can't produce the redesign.
so we have to switch the PCB producer, which is ***highly*** critical
in this phase. we'll see next 2 weeks what will happen with another 3
testboards. in case they can't do it, we still have about 17 boards
left that will be assembled instead.

we also ****ed one of the 3 working boards. so we have only 2 at the
moment. next week we see if the 3 testboards from that new company are
ok. if yes, the new company will produce another 17 boards; if no,
we'll assemble the existing 17 boards (from the original company) --
for those we need to do some ugly manual dangerous modifications. -->
that's like opening your mobile phone and try to solder some wires on
its board ---> time consuming and error-prone."

This was just before interzoo. There is no doubt the cerebra will be a sweet controller if it ever gets released. Based on my conversations, this project is being done on overtime where other projects are in priority. Heavy focus on marketing but not product development. I'm hoping to eventually get one so I can finish building my system.

Cheers
Rob
