Vertex Illumina Club

I recently purchased a 4 foot SR360. It has been a frustrating learning experience, and I was almost ready to send the light back, and get something else.

Do you know what "Synchronize Automatically" means in the "Summary Menu"?

Also, a couple of days ago, I had a message on the control panel on the lamp that said, "Module 1 is not functional" --- any idea what that means?

I turned off the light over night, and the message has never appeared again.

Thanks!

@jlanger

your tank looks great!

@ jt48

do you have any problems with the light or do you plan a upgrade from the light with adding some modules? If yes, i would make the firmware upgrade, but if the light working without any problems i would do nothing.
in this chase, "never touch a running system".

It means; if you make any changes to your light program it automatically saves it to the light.

NEED HELP!!!!I am running an sr260 with uv upgrade over a 30x30x24 cube running corner to corner. I just got it and am not sure what hight off the water to run it. Could someone please tell me the correct hieght and intensity to run the light at.

I would help you if I had experience with these, you are better off reposting this question in a Vertex Illumina thread or in the manufacture forum for Vertex.

The illumina does not have optics...so it is designed to run closer to the water. I have my 260 about 8 inches above the water. I think a lot of users run their blue and royal blue up near 100% at peak hours and the whites are anywhere from 40-60% at peak hours. UV user seem to peak out in that same area. Keep in mind that this led has a "gentler" light than many leds because it does not have the optics.

I go with a 12 hour cycle with 2 hours of ramp up and down on both sides. My white and uv both max at 60% and my blues max at 100%

It seems acclimation to the light has been different for folks. What kind of prior light did you run?

For instance, I went from 500 watts of metal halides and 200 watts of t5s. My tank gladly took 100% of these blues immediately.

Hope this helps.

Great explanation - mine is similar, except I have a longer ramp. I've been trying to mimic the sun's radiation levels, which usually peak around 1:30pm, and looks similar to a bell curve. So my blues peak early and stay flat, while my whites (and the other colors) peak around 60% at 1:30pm but have a pretty steep gradient.

Thanks i have my light currently hanging at 7" and my blues at 85% and whites at 50% w/ my uv at 20% i was running a custom cree xpe fixture w/90degree optics so i should be fine with the high light.

does anyone have a copy of there lighting program i could copy yo get a feel for programing this? also have sps high and middle tank and lps middle to bottem

thanks

I have a 600mm Vertex Illumina 360 and have set to have the fan ON.
But the fan is running even when the lights are out. Is this how it works ??? Doesn't seem right. :worried2:

Ive been running a 36" SR260 on my 90 mixed reef for about a year and a half. Yesterday I ordered 3 multicolor modules. Any tips on using these modules at first? I assume I need to start their levels low and bring them up over time? The question is how low?

I'd start ~10% and watch your corals. The UV is the most concerning one, since it can really bleach corals. The rest are mostly to supplement other parts of the spectrum and for aesthetics in color blending. I have heard (but have not experienced) that the red can cause algae growth in higher nutrient systems that were fine before, so you may want to watch that one closely as well.

Thanks msderganc. If I have learned anything since installing the SR260 is that this is one powerful light! Adding these pads will need to be treated with care. Thanks again.
