Vertex Illumina Club

I have used a Vertex SR360 for the last 12 months over this tank. The tank is 8 foot x 30 inches wide x 27 inches deep. I have 4 auxiliary red modules and 3 auxiliary uv modules.

Here's a couple of shots that show growth and colouration.

Current FTS as at October 2013

FTS as at 20th March 2013

And a few of individual sps colonies.

And one lps

Three years later with the first generation SR200 Illumina, finally got a chance to take a picture of my tank last night.

I have a 1200-260 which is sitting in the garage!
We moved about 4 months ago and due to my travelling schedule I haven't been able to set the tank back up, my corals are with club buddies so its all good.
My thoughts on LED light challenges after using both AI and then switching to Illumina:
With Halide or T5 you pretty much have one parameter you can change; distance of the fixture from the water surface and of course the photoperiod!
Since there are so many more parameters and single nm bandwidth intensity that can be changed with LEDs irrelevant of which brand of light, we all seem to experience difficulties with them specially when we just get the new toy!
Corals need stable environment and once you let them get used to a certain water chemistry or lighting... they are much tougher than one would think.
I lost 2 Acros ( roughly 7" diameter colonies) with AI since I did 100% on the Blues. that wouldn't make the light bad just my own stupidity.
Then got so frustrated that bit the bullet and lost a lot of money and switched to Illumina.
This time I was more careful and no issues. the corals did look pale a bit but eventually came back.
Would I have been able to get the same results from AI and avoid losing all the money? yes, probably! But you all know how personal we get with things when it effects our tank.
The only advice I give my friends at the club either with lighting or anything else( after being in the hobby since 1980s) is ; "Wait"
Just my 2 cents.
This thread has gotten much larger than last I was here, man I have to kill the itch and set the tank back up! Specially that I got every piece of equipment I need as well!!! some items in multiples!!
One of our locals always says; the only successful reefer is the one that hasn't gotten divorced yet! so I had to give it a break!! Will be back in the new year
Cheers,
Dave

Anybody else have problems with modules forgetting their programming. Last week one of my multi-color modules decided red and green should be 100% and only a power cycle could convince it otherwise. Tonight my moon lights came on and the same module decided that all white channels should be 100%. The light has been working flawlessly for months and the only setting I have changed is the time to adjust for daylight saving time.

It did it again last night, if it does it again i'm going to try flashing the firmware for the module that is acting up and see if that fixes the issue.

I just added 2 UV modules onto the illumina 260 and performed a firmware 2092 update. However, my lights won't turn on after the update. I chose complete update starting from range 0 to 7. What did I do wrong?

Also, when I use the special setting under v-link, only module 1 turns on.

Thanks

I had to do each module individualy, so you will need to do it 8 times instead of trying to run them all sequential it doesn't like that for some reason, such a pain

so choose complete update and select 0 to 1 then 0 to 2 then 0 to 3 and etc? Necessary update does not allow me to choose individually.
