Vertex Illumina Fixtures - Now Available!

Jeremy,
Any idea if this unit will play nice with the profilux controller? Just bought a P3ex and the capability of controlling LED is incredible! I want to take advantage of the controller.

I have a profilux as well and while the unit can be used to enhance programming capability of other fixtures such as AI, there is no need for it with Illumina.
In actual fact when used with V-LINK the programming capabilities are far more than what Profilux can offer.

Does this fixture come with the hanging kit? I couldnt see the hanging kit anywhere on the website so I order it without, but really need to be able to hang it

So these are the controllable units? Did Vertex decide to pay the copyright fee for selling these in the US? I was going to order these from Canada. I will be buying them from you all instead...YAY!!! Also, I see that you are going to be carrying the 200 model soon. What is the difference between this model and the 260? I can't remember off the top of my head. And what will be the price difference between the 200 model and the 260 model for a 12" fixture. This is the light I plan on hanging above the Elos Midi.

I'll answer that question since I've already inquired and got an answer from Jeremy

12" 200 model - Rebel LEDs $874.99
12" 260 model - Cree LEDs $999.99

Summer's almost over so I'm waiting until spring. The MH heat issue will be over in a couple of weeks. I have a few extra new MH bulbs and T5s so I'm waiting and gonna follow the threads for a bit.

Jeremy - What is the spread like on these length wise i.e. the 12" model has a coverage area of xx by xx inches?

I can't tell you the max wide (tank depth) the fixtures can handle, but if you are more concerned about the length of the fixture you will need, buy 1' shorter than your aquarium. 6" short on both ends of the tank is fine and will still be enough light in those areas without dark spots. I have the 36" 260 on my 4' tank and it is GLORIOUS!

Actually the 200 model uses Cree XPE whites and 260 uses XPG white.
According to Cree the XPEs are @min 112 lm/W while advertised @ 100.

260 model uses Cree XPG @ 139 lm/W
Frankly the 200 is even too much light, this is what I have been using and have to dim the whites down to 55% on a 24" tank.
The issue is that no other manufacturer advertises which blue and RB LEDs they use, although Vertex had no problem giving me this data when I emailed them.
I tried to get the same data from AI but they just ignored me!
I remember I even asked here on this forum but AI would not share this info, so that was one more reason why I got the vertex.
Pacific sun also advertises what Blue and RB they use but not AI! Again as always huge price difference and intensity between the lowest blue and higest one from Cree.
I think one of the major reasons why these overpower AI is the stronger blue although I have no way to test that!
Per Vertex they use:
260:
Blue 30.6 lm/w
RB 425mV

200:
Blue 23.5 lm/w
RB 350mV

In my mind for anything 24" deep or less the 260 is too overkill, JMHO
Cheers
Dave

Hey guys, just a heads up, here is the info on the blues that are used in the AI fixtures:

* Cree XP-E Royal Blue: 450nm dominant wavelength (D3), 350mW min radiant flux @ 350mA (15)
* Cree XP-E Blue: 465nm dominant wavelength (B3), 30.6 min luminous flux 350mA (K2)

I just didn't want people to think that AI is trying to hide anything in regards to their product. :)

Thanks Jeremy, I tried to get this info before I bought the Illumina, even if you look on this forum a few months back I asked this question before.
So Then this means the 260 has stronger RB and the same Blue than the AI!
200 has the same RB and weaker blue than the AI!
Even considering that the 200 gives out much more white than AI and very little less Blue than AI per foot!
I guess I made the right choice for my tank!

Thanks. I really like these lights but I am not sure I can feel good about spending $2 grand to light a 40br.

Can the Vertex be used with the Profilux was the question.

I'm trying to decide which fixture to get -- 60" vs 48" and 260 vs 200. My tank dimensions are 60" x 30" x 24". I plan on keeping mainly LPS with a few hardy SPS. Any recommendations would be apprciated. Thanks.

I have a 30x30x18" with a 12" 200 series and love it...my tank is a lot of LPS, couple of softies and one green stick.

Since your tank is 24" deep, my suggestion would be
260/48"
or
200/60"
