Vertex IN-180

I'm setting up another tank. A 90 gallon. Does anybody know if the Vertex IN-180 is a good skimmer? I seen the reviews on premium aquatics and Marine Depot. They all seem to be very good reviews. But the cpr Bak-Pak also has very good reviews. I have a cpr and didn't find it to be that great I replaced it with a AquaC Remora Hang-On back and I like it better than the cpr. The first time buyer of these skimmers may leave an excellent review. I just thought I would see what you may think of the Vertex IN-180 before I buy something that I won't be happy with.

I had a Backpak and thought it was horrible. I have the Vertex IN80, and couldn't imagine a better skimmer at even twice the price. I would have seriously paid twice the amount I paid for this caliber of performance.

How's that?

i got a vertex 180 and its a great skimmer, i've owned every cheap skimmer out there and vertex plus octo extremes go to be best skimmers for the price. Or you can wait for octopus cone skimmer to come out.

Just put my Vertex 180 to use on my 90 which is cycling. Couldn't be happier. Its a very well made skimmer and has so far done its job well. Can't wait to see what crud this thing pulls once I get a bioload in the tank. I would recommend it for sure.

decent skimmer, just beware the resun pump...it suxs.
for the money, I'd rather have sicce/askoll powered SWC extreme series of skimmers over any of the comparably powered vertex skimmers.

And NO, this does not include the octopus extreme skimmers...they sux too. CV cant mod the sicce to save their life...lol

Don't CV and SWC use the same manufacturer in China? Last I heard SWC was importing via canada and CV is the real US importer. Unless SWC found a new plant to make and mod their skimmers and pumps the only difference is the box.......

That's what I thought as well.

The Vertex skimmers are the same as the Euro-Reef skimmers except for the cup union and bubble plate, correct? I know the bodies of the skimmers are the same.

Vertex is exactly the same as my original Euro Reef Body, not sure about the new Euros though.

The vertex in 180 is a great skimmer my top choice under $300
