Vertex IN180 impeller

Did Vertex improve the impeller on the IN180 pump? I've had mine for three years and it has swollen and split. My unit is a gen1, but I don't want it happening again. The swollen impeller has damaged the inside of the pump and I don't know how much material remains before the pump fails catestrophically.

Yes, there was a revision on the impeller assembly when they convereted over to the Gen 2 models of the IN series. This solved any warping issues, as well as shaft issues they experiences in that first run.

Although I've had the skimmer for three years, is there any way that they would honor this as a warranty? It appears that it is a known defect.

My guess is that they probably won't since you got three years out of it. It was a known defect for some shafts and magnets on the Gen 1, but not all. I would say that only 15% or so were actually affected. You can try calling Proline and see what they say though, 604-278-1474. Never hurts to try!

Jeremy, I called Proline and they must have contacted you guys since this is where I purchased from. Attached is a pic of the impeller. I do regular maintenance on the pump, but just recently noticed this. It was hard to miss. I also want to post that this is the first issue I've had with the skimmer. It is a Gen1 and has been skimming like a champ since installation. Even with this issue, it's was skimming great but it did start to get a bit louder.

I was out of the office all day yesterday, I haven't seen any emails or messages from them yet. Will let you know if I do.
