Vertex on an Elos 160xl using tank mount bracket

Hi Jeremy, is it possible to custom make a 15mm(Elos side panels' thickness) acrylic bracket for the Vertex Illumina tank mount bracket on a 5' Illumina? Any safety concerns?

There is nothing available to my knowledge unfortunately, you'd have to make the legs yourself, or find a local fab shop that could do them. Having said that, as long as you could get someone to do it there should be no issues at all.

Thanks, I'll talk to my sump guy to see if he can custom make 15mm brackets to go with the legs!

Actually, Vertex makes 15mm and 18mm acrylic feet for the tank brackets, if that is what you are looking for.

Kolognekoral, yes, I need the 15mm acrylic mounting brackets that attach to the metal legs to support the light on top of the tank. Like Jeremy mentioned above, the largest size I can find in the States is 12mm! Do you have any link where I can purchase the 15mm acrylic brackets? Thanks in advance!

Jeremy, ready to purchase the light, what model(260 or 360) and length of the Illumina would you recommend for Elos 160xl (63" x 31.5" x 23.6")? Softies and LPS to start but might try SPS in the future! BTW, can you get the 15mm acrylic brackets? There is an online shop in GB asking for 130£ shipped!(Ouch!) Thanks,

I think I would do the 260. It will be more than enough for you even with SPS at that depth. As for length, I'd do the 48", especially with it being an elos tank. The tank will look too "top heavy" with the 60" unit on it, and will take away from that sleek elos design in my opinion.

Thanks for the recommendation. Will the tank mount metal legs cover the 7.5" reach each side to support the 48" fixture? 160xl is 63" wide! Can you get the 15mm acrylic brackets from Vertex? Thanks,

We can get the 15mm feet with no problem. I'm finding out that the brackets are only going to span about 6" at the most unless you did some DIY work with it, so you'll most likely have to do the 60" unfortunately. Is hanging a fixture possible for you?
